In All Your Ways Acknowledge Him — Proverbs 3:6

"In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight"

— Proverbs 3:6, NIV

Many people know this verse in its older wording: "In all your ways acknowledge him." It follows directly after the call to trust the Lord with all our heart, and it shows us what that trust looks like in daily life.

The key words are "all your ways." It is easy to invite God into the obviously spiritual parts of life, such as church, prayer, and Bible reading, while keeping Him out of the rest. But God wants to be part of everything: our work, our spending, our conversations, and our plans.

To acknowledge God means to give Him His proper place. It means asking what He wants before we decide, rather than asking Him to bless what we have already decided. To submit to Him means being willing to follow His way even when we would prefer our own.

This can happen in simple, practical ways. We can pray before an important decision, pause before speaking in anger, or ask whether a purchase pleases God. We can thank Him for small blessings throughout the day. Little by little, these habits turn our whole life toward Him.

The promise attached to this verse is wonderful: "he will make your paths straight." A straight path is one that leads clearly to where it should go. This does not mean life will always be easy or free of hills and valleys. It means God will guide us, remove unnecessary obstacles, and bring us where He wants us to be.

Many of us waste time and energy trying to work everything out on our own. When we put God first in every area, He takes responsibility for the direction of our lives.

Today, invite God into one area of your life you have kept to yourself. Ask Him to guide you there.

Lord, I want You to be part of every area of my life. Guide my steps today and make my path straight. Amen.
