What Does Corpus Christi Mean?

Corpus Christi means “Body of Christ.” The term comes from Latin and refers directly to the central belief that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist. At the Last Supper, Jesus took bread and said, “This is my body,” and took the cup and said, “This is my blood.” These words are the foundation of what Corpus Christi means. The phrase does not add anything new. It simply expresses what Jesus Himself said.
